Check with the Univ of Maine and their core samples from Sebasticook Lake in Newport. They concluded that the earth was hotter and drier than now 6000 to 8000 years ago. God is in charge of the climate/atmosphere/universe and He would never allow us even the smallest charge over it. Please keep in mind while you are reducing carbon use that everything on earth uses carbon dioxide and it is necessary for life.	-

My reasons are that the Initiative reeks of centralized control over resources and outcomes. My 75 years of living has taught me that such placement of trust always produces wrong consequences and un-intended outcomes. I would rather place my trust in the individual who has 100% control over his future, rather than a government bureaucracy with it's attendant overhead and populated by over-seers with little first hand knowledge of what is happening on a regional or local level.	-

The increase in fuel taxes will directly impact our quality of life forcing us to make painfull economic decisions with our family budget and for that matter nearly all those who live in Richmond or any of hundreds of other rural Maine communities.	-

The real economic harm this scheme would do far outweighs the theoretical infinitesimal benefit. Those in government who support money-grabs such as this will be held accountable at the ballot box.	-

Being a disabled, full time care taker for my 3 grandchildren, we are always on a very tight budget. One of our children is an autistic child that requires we keep the house quite warm and has appts very often that require us to drive frequently. We absolutely could not afford to provide the special accommodations that we do for him of the taxes are passed. We would literally have to make cuts on things like groceries, medications etc in order to survive. This proposal would not benefit anyone other than the people of Portland-	-

Maine citizens have to drive long distances to work and back and are unable to rely upon mass transit which is nearly non existent. Heating oil is a inescapable necessity to survive Maine winters. Raising the cost of living in this State is a terrible idea and will end up forcing many citizens to depart for other States with much lower taxes and much lower energy costs.	-
