Transportation is vital as in a rural area; grocery stores, Doctor/Clinic visits, etc, all depend on transportation. There is no public transportation in most areas of Maine. Increasing taxes with no benefits adds to the price of fuel, the price of groceries; all areas of one's life. The regular folks can't afford any more financial stress. Raising fuel taxes will have a bad, damaging effect on the Residents of Maine.	-

"Earmarks"? There is no such thing in this state, only the next black hole to pour our money into. Next, if it's such a great initiative, why are adjoining states fleeing from it like rats on a sinking ship? Third: Where will its appetite end? First, it's 17 cents, then a quarter, then...California here we come! If the state really wanted to affect climate change by enhancing public transportation, it would create a public transportation system that actually works consistently and efficiently, is accessible to citizens, and is reasonably priced. So far, every "initiative" has turned into a boondoggle...but a very lucrative one for the state's wallet. Please stop treating us as if we are so stupefied by letting you get away with your countless past indulgences that you think this is just another folder of b.s. you can slip under our door in the middle of the night.	-

One legislator, I recall, was observed "filling up" in New Hampshire because he lived just across the Maine / NH line! Such hypocrisy undermines the well being of our citizens. Hopefully, the ballot box will bring this nightmare to an end, and there will be some common sense once again in Maine government (and we need to start at the VERY TOP!!)	-

Citizens can reduce their carbon footprint by lifestyle changes. Taxing fuel will NOT lower fuel consumption it will only cause economic hardship for Mainers. Gov. mill's desire to stay in this program is political, not out of concern for the environment. The state of Maine economy depends heavily on tourist dollars. If the fuel tax to visit our state is extraordinary, tourist will stay away, thus creating a devastating result to the economy.	-
