Electric vehicles are not an option in rural Maine, because of limited access to charging stations. |

In addition, as trucks bring the goods we all buy to the stores we frequent or to our homes, you will be raising the prices for everyone. The people who can least afford this will bear the brunt. If your solution is to move people to public transportation, I ask you: at what point in our history has this been a preferable option for anyone? Do I need to detail public transportation's myriad problems? And how do truckers use public transportation. Put me down as a solid "No" for this. I'll be heading to New Hampshire to do as much of my business as possible. |

Not only will it help to address emissions from the transportation sector (the largest source of emissions in Massachusetts and across the region), but it will also raise funds that are desparately needed to upgrade public transportation as well as to transition to being powered by 100% clean renewable energy.
While I am strongly supportive, I hope that provisions are included to ensure that low-income residents do not bear the brunt of this initiative. I also hope that states chose to prioritize low-income communities when spending the generated revenue. |

Gas in New Jersey as it is goes up every couple of years because of Transportation act now. People on fixed income cannot afford this. People want to ride public transportation raise their rates not mine. Where does this end? I will not vote for any party that passes this bill. Heck most of East coast pollution comes from the West anyway and that is not going to stop. Meanwhile China keeps building coal plants and nothing is done. What will happen with this plan is rates goes up then problem in the Middle East and next thing you know we are paying $4.00 a gallon. We should vote you all out of office. DISGRACE |

Taxpayer are already paying for Federal Flood Insurance and Beach replenishment. Instead of always increases taxes find budgets cuts. IE. why do tax payers fund federal flood insurance for millionaire's second homes. Why is the federal government in the business of ensuring second beach homes. Obama Care, Medicare pricing is based on income, same policy should be implemented for Flood Insurance. And if no bath houses, parking or public assess( ie the north end of LBI) stop having tax payers pay. Use that saving for Climate Change. |

Maine is the most rural state in New England and the vast majority of residents live outside the cities of Portland, Augusta, and Bangor. Mainers in the northern 2/3 of the state must commute much farther distances to work or shop than any one of the other states in this initiative. Furthermore, the proposed taxes will place Maine businesses at an unacceptable disadvantage, as costs for transportation and energy already far exceed those of the rest of New England. If Governor Janet Mills continues down this road she will face massive opposition from the residents of Maine. There is nothing in this plan which will benefit the people she was elected to represent. |

Of course, the limited supply will drive prices up, and the permitting fees will be added to the cost and passed on to the consumer! Maine is much more rural than other states in this consortium, we have a higher aging population on fixed incomes, and the geographical nature of our state means much more is spent on transportation costs by business. Please keep control over our state, and do not join a group that will force Maine rural taxpayers to fund “green “ initiatives in the larger population centers, in a disproportionate way!!
We can address this green initiative in our own state, exclusive to our state that is so much different in size, industry, geography and number of citizens, and the make up of the tax base...small businesses and individuals. We have approximately 800,000 taxpayers that shoulder the entire burden already. This is just a bad idea for Maine. It is already such an expensive state to live in, pleas find another way !!
Thank you |

A <$0.20 tax per gallon of fuel is a drop in the bucket, and I hope it's an easy win to fund better transport.
Expanded reliable bus service is a start, but a high speed train such as the one between Connecticut and NYC would be amazing with service between NJ and NYC. I know there is a train right now but it has far too many stops, is too slow, and too expensive (I take a bus into the Port Authority every day instead, but the traffic sucks!).
In addition to increases in gas taxes, we need to increase tolls on the roads between NJ and NY and CT and NJ and CT and NY. |

We are tapped out, and will have to consider moving out. In a state where everyone moans about the young people not staying, why drive them out? |
