Carbon-based fuels are accelerating the climate crisis and their use must be curtailed. Increasing the costs of fossil fuels will help reduce their use and is an appropriate method of raising money for investments in better transportation. Since Vermont is a mostly-rural state our primary need is to replace gasoline and diesel vehicles with electric vehicles. Our distribution of houses and patterns of travel are not easily handled by mass transit except in a few regions. Incentives for individuals and companies to switch from fossil fuel cars to electric cars, more investments in charging stations and more investments in electric school and commuter buses are all needed. Commuter rail should be considered as an option on existing tracks. More bicycle paths should be created as a transportation option and also for recreation by both residents and our economically important visitors. |

1. Converting our current public transit buses to electric buses.
2. Developing the inter city rail network in the Washington DC - Philadelphia - New York - Boston belt. This would entail converting that system to 100% electric (and taking out some of the remaining trains running on petrol) along with making the current network more EFFICIENT and more AFFORDABLE - making it the first choice for travellers, ahead of bus and flight.

• 100% percent electric cars, I have had one since December 2018.
• More 100% electric buses, trucks and vans.
• More mass transit such as a train from Concord New Hampshire to Boston Massachusetts.
• Homes and businesses using 100% renewable energy such as solar panels and windmills. These homes and businesses would have charging stations to charge up cars, trucks and vans for residents and customers. I have been and will continue looking to start a
community here in Merrimack County where everyone has very insulated homes and use solar panels.
• More job training for the green new deal jobs
Thank you for excepting my input and thank you for what you are doing. |

When implemented, the TCI promises to be an effective tool.
Since it uses market signals to drive the shift to cleaner energy, and leaves the market to choose the solutions, TCI should be a program that everyone can back.
The projected estimates in gas price increases that I have seen and that seem to be drawing a lot of complaints are not even significant when viewed in the context of normal fluctuations in gas prices.

Deliberate, effective and immediate actions are needed by Federal, State an local bodies to reduce pollution from all means of transportation. Some of the steps to be taken/continued include demanding increased miles per gallon for automobiles and trucks, trending towards electric vehicles as well as increased research and implementation for employing alternative energy approaches for transportation plus expanding public transportation (e.g. high speed trains). |

There is more an more evidence accumulating day by day, week by week in the form violent, historic storms, fires, loss of species and forested land, melting of our polar ice caps. etc. In addition, the majority of scientists who research matters related to climate change are in agreement that there has been a precipitous increase in the rate of climate change since the beginning of the industrial age and particularly since the middle of the 20th century, due to man made CO2 emissions. It is estimated we have about 10 years to turn this trend back or we face potentially irreversible global warming and disastrous effects to plant and animal life, and therefore, human life. We need a dramatic reduction in the emissions produced by private, public and commercial transportation. |

More public transit and electric vehicle infrastructure in rural areas will help limit emissions and thereby improve air quality, limit climate impact and carbon footprint, and improve quality of life for people. Expansion of commuter rail, electric vehicles, and streets that are safe, walkable, and bikeable in the suburbs will further encourage the transition to infrastructure consistent with these goals. Sustainable and equitable housing near transit and electric bus fleets in urban communities would truly serve the people of the affected regions while addressing the needs of the climate emergency. Please take steps to follow through with the plan to implement the Transportation and Climate Initiative. |
