I ride Amtrak regularly from Lancaster, PA, to Bridgeport, CT, via Philadelphia. Trains are often overcrowded, and driving is not pleasant. Think working from home wherever possible, as part of the solution. |

Virginia must formally join the Transportation and Climate Initiative to reduce emissions. The policy must have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access. Our transportation system is stuck in the dark ages. Traffic congestion from millions of cars and trucks are polluting our lungs and planet more than ever before. As we enter this new decade, we have an opportunity to modernize how we get from point A to point B. I appreciate that this plan was created in a bipartisan nature to move us forward while the federal government takes us backward. |

We need to change our lifestyles and expectations to how much we can continue to take and not pay a painful price. Let us make logical decision now and when my boys are old enough they can become stewards themselves and engineer ways to mitigate the damage we have already done and build a sustainable economy and democracy for generations to come. |

Making gas super expensive is not going to hurt the economy terribly. It is hard enough to afford to drive now. Maine has NO public transportation system so just making it more expensive to drive does nothing to help Mainers. Will Janet Mills invite me over to her house every night for supper because the way she is going with all these taxes I wont be able to afford to eat!!!!!!!! If she does invite my family over she better come pick us up because we wont be able to afford to drive there! |

Does she have absolutely no awareness of what life is like for all of us who live in rural Maine? We already live on low incomes, and transportation is a must if we are going to be able to continue to work. One of my sons drives an hour to work and back each day, and another one of my sons has to drive all over the state. I drive a lot in my line of work as well. Transportation costs are already a hardship. I can't imagine how we'll survive with such a high gas tax! Many of us are living from paycheck to paycheck as it is. Someone please stop her from causing such irreparable damage to the people of Maine. She is a monster. |

Our state would have no control of distribution of funds. Most of rural Vermont, where I live and work, will be the hardest impacted with zero to no benefit from this program. We live in the shade of mountains where electric vehicles are not only not possible to use for our commutes, charging them is very expensive and still uses electricity that comes from sources generating carbon, and damming rivers which also affect our planet. Also, part of my living is derived from towing trailers - which I can't do with electric vehicles.
I live on the border of Massachusetts and New York. My husband works in Massachusetts. Part of my work has me travel to New York (to teach prisoners). Without a plan that treats every payer of this TAX with a return equally and directly, this is just another cash grab from urban areas from rural areas. This would damage my property values, hurt interstate commerce, and drive down tourism.
There is absolutely no good reason for Vermont to participate in this only to line the pockets of bigger states with higher populations and less demanding terrain. |

It is my concern that the raw materials needed to make all new electric cars for our society will be problematic. It might be wiser to retrofit ICE with electric motors. There is a company that is doing that. It is concerning that another peak demand will be created by charging EV's at night. How is the electricity going to be generated for the fueling of EV's that will consume a lot of electricity? Will this turn into a windfall for utilities? This transition needs to be fair and equal. Fuel cells hold such a promise for the future, but, as they stand now, using methane seems counterproductive. The rural transportation problem is huge and complex. Even with auto guided vehicles, the cost will be huge to provide transportation for rural folks who will have no transportation because they cannot afford EV's. The study will bring to the surface problems and solutions to the huge evolution in transportation that is coming. We should be grateful to you for pursuing such a huge project. Thank you! |

Just how much is this program going to cost everyday tax paying New Englanders and please respond without political banter, I've had enough of that. Vermont is already one of the most expensive states to live in and it's only going up. It's very hard for a hard working father of 3 to pay all these taxes without a truthful relevant explanation. I give half my paycheck for taxes now so you can see why someone like me is hesistant.

The technologies exist to do these things; what is lacking thus far is the courage to confront entrenched, extremely well funded and insatiably greedy carbon extractors and merchants. We don’t have a year to come up with a plan, so please act quickly and courageously to design a transportation policy that will as rapidly as possible be low-carbon and ultimately result in no-carbon transportation. If you fail to do this, weather related disasters will only increase as we zoom past methane-release, ice-melt and ocean-acidification tipping points on our way to a gruesome end to our species. We are clearly in the midst of a climate crisis; please act accordingly. Thank you! |

Since transportation is now our largest source of global-warming emissions. rapidly achieving a carbon-neutral transportation sector is essential for human survival and the quality of life for future generations.
I urge the Commonwealth of Virginia to formally join this plan to reduce transportation-related emissions.
It's important that the adopted policy have a strong equity component, by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.
It's long past time to stop expanding limited-access highways for toll-free travel by single-occupant motor vehicles. Rather, existing general-purpose freeway lanes should be converted into managed travel lanes for express buses and other multi-occupant vehicles.
I applaud the bipartisan nature of this project, moving us forward while the federal government has been taking us backward by lowering future automobile emission standards and expanding fossil fuel extraction and publicly subsidized fossil fuel infrastructure.

We have scientific data and long standing evidence of the damage that will be caused by allowing such an action to occur. One of the key roles of government is to preserve public safety. Willfully ignoring clear evidence of an impending catastrophe is a dereliction of duty. Scientists have worked for decades to assemble an incontrovertible body of evidence related to our changing climate, and ignoring that information is insidious. Future generations' resources, health and prosperity is dependent on us acting immediately, significantly and broadly.
I demand that the policy has a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access. |
