Truthfully, I have no idea where you have gotten this idea from, or what you are thinking.
While many of the public transit "solutions" and feel-good methods you propose might make sense in a densely packed urban area like DC, Massachusetts, ect, in Maine they are terrible ideas, as Maine is largely rural. In fact, with Maine being 89% wooded, the most wooded state on the East coast, I think that these methods are unnecessary. Rural Maine depends on individual vehicles for transportation, and ANOTHER tax on top of what people are already paying will seek to negatively effect an already fragile economy, and burden and ALREADY overtaxed people. Unless over taxation and thus making Maine more difficult to live in is the real goal.
There are many things we all can do to REALLY make the world a better place and our environment leaner and NONE of them involve additional taxation or giving the government more power.
NO new gas tax. NO other taxes either. Clean up your OWN yard before you complain about that of your neighbors.

Maine is reducing emissions without taking much needed money from it's citizens. There is never a real "Program" that will accomplish what the stated goals are. It always ends up being a cash cow for other Programs and pet projects for politicians. The people of Maine need their money to live with not fund Government feel good boondoggles that make for good press releases and do little for the Maine people.

This is a raw deal for over 3/4ths of the state of maine i strongly oppose increasing our already astronomical tax burden. I fail to see how raising taxes will accomplish anything but put more strain on rural people like myself whom have no option of pupblic transportation or electric cars

we the people can not afford another tax ,especially another fuel tax of any kind .they say its to fix the roads and for a greener earth which is so much bull its sicking ,they didnt even spend the tax money that we already pay on fixing any roads .we the people can not afford anymore taxes you the government and big business will just have to live off the millions of dollars that you already rape us of !!!!

Maine is a rural State and Maine is a poor State. Maine depends on agriculture, fishing and forestry all of which use gas and diesel. Joining this group will create an additional burden on hard working and honest Maine people. Janet Mills was not elected to run a dictatorship in Maine. TCI is bad for Maine and bad for this country.

This is bull***t on a cracker disguised as a feel good policy to lower carbon emissions. The only thing this does is increase the price of gasoline at the pump for the consumer and it’s not going to stop us from driving gasoline vehicles. It’s just another fancy way for the governors of these states to take money from people. You take more money from people, less people can afford your stupid ass electric vehicles. We live in northern states where logging is a huge industry. Increasing the cost of gasoline will have a huge effect on loggers and in turn on lumber. How is it you can say we need more housing and then increase to cost of lumber via the cost of gas? Do y’all even look at the impacts beyond your own dollar signs? I think it’s time to rid ourselves of these thieving state governments for good.

This is obviously a regressive tax that will hurt poor Mainers. Having been born in Maine and lived here most of my life, it saddens me to see this kind punitive tax on transportation, food, heating, and pretty much all aspects integral to life in Maine coming from the Blaine House.

This will have a disastrous effect on Mainers, especially those who are already struggling to pay for gas and heat their homes. Mainers don’t have the option to take a bus or hop on the subway. This will also increase the costs of transporting food into the state and commercial products out of the state. STOP. STOP THIS MADNESS.

I do not support this initiative. Maine is a rural state and distances traveled are long just to take care of basic needs. Also, this makes mass transportation impractical. Maine population is also among the oldest in the nation and a tax such as this will weigh heavily on fixed income recipients.

I also object to paying a tax that is then used to subsidize the purchase of a new electric vehicle that I most certainly cannot afford.

I would like Maine to withdraw from this initiative and plan to let my Governor and representatives know how I feel.
